WINTER SOLSTICE YIN YOGA & GUIDED DEEP RELAXATION
Wednesday, December 20, 6-8 pm
The Winter Solstice is the darkest, most yin day of the year. It is a day that is deeply rooted in ancient spiritual traditions, but the modern world pulls us away from nature’s cycles into an active yang presence. Yin refers to the stable, unmoving, hidden aspects of our being. Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, creating openings deep within the body; passive, long held floor postures balance the abundant yang energy of the holiday season by allowing time to surrender, drink in and savor each breath.
After the Yin Yoga practice, we will enter into a deeper meditative state of “yogic sleep” with a guided relaxation through the Maya Koshas. Yoga philosophy teaches that we are multidimensional beings. In Sanskrit, Pancha means five, Maya means illusion and Kosha means sheath, referring to the 5 energetic levels of being we experience as ourselves. From this space of inner quiet and receptivity, we can access our light and set intentions for the new year.
GENTLE/MEDITATIVE $20 includes a copy of Megan’s “Healing Through Yoga Nidra”.

By combining sound therapy and energy medicine, the complete Self can be brought into blissful relaxation. Crystal Singing Bowls and the sound waves they produce, resonate deep within the human body’s central nervous system down to a cellular level, bringing your very matter into harmony. While allowing the vibrational sounds of Mike’s calming crystal bowl tones to stimulate deep into the body tissue, Megan will individually assist each participant to clear and balance the biofield with hands on healing. This workshop is appropriate for anyone interested in holistic healing. MEDITATION FOR HEALTH
Saturday January 20, 12 – 2 pm
Medical science studies continually recommend the benefits of meditation for memory, depression, anxiety and stress reduction, addiction, to boost the immune system, control blood pressure, pain management, improve sleep and general health and happiness. It is also the most inexpensive, accessible method for total transformation. Just as there are a variety of reasons to meditate, there are numerous methods of meditation; many have their roots in the ancient yogic tradition. Yogic philosophy teaches that meditation is not a practice (like its physical counterpart – asana) but a state of awareness that is obtained by using “tools” such as the breath (pranayama), imagery, mantra and mudra.
Take time in a safe, open minded space to explore and personalize your meditation tools, then finish with a 25 minute guided meditation. Deep Relaxation Through the Koshas, a form of Yoga Nidra, is a five step relaxation that brings you into a peaceful state between wakefulness and sleep. It is one of the most powerful and easiest meditation techniques and we do it lying down in total comfort! If you are new to meditation or struggle with it, this workshop will give you simple tools to begin or expand your current practice into a daily state of awareness. MEDITATIVE/THERAPEUTIC
Your Teacher: Megan MacCarthy, C-IAYT, RYT 500, HTCP, was introduced to meditation 25 years ago at her doctor’s recommendation to help manage panic attacks. Even when time takes away from a physical yoga practice, meditation continues to be the strong foundation for her yoga sadhana (daily spiritual practice).
