2017 Retreat

I look forward to sharing the facets of yoga that continually heal  and empower me physically, emotionally and spiritually.  I believe your awareness is precious and deserves nurturing.  Yoga is a self-administered awareness protection plan. Through contemplation and  connection to the intuitive feminine, we learn to hold space for all of our thoughts and feelings and remove that which keeps us from our true self.  – Megan

Megan MacCarthy will be taking a group of 10-12 people on retreat to a private home on Sheep’s Head Peninsula, West Cork, Ireland where serenity and sea cliffs pair perfectly for yoga and hiking. The home is situated on a peaceful, narrow strand providing sounds and smells of the Atlantic ocean with breathtaking views. The peninsula is one of the most remote areas of Ireland but there are a variety of options for local food including cafes, fresh seafood and pubs. Three quaint villages on the peninsula are less than 2 miles from the house and it is 20 minutes from the bustling quintessential Irish town, Bantry Bay.

Nurture with Gentle Yoga
Two practices a day will be provided (and maybe more if our hiking allows!). The focus of the yoga will be calming and meditative and will include restorative, yin, somatics, pranayama and daily guided meditations. When appropriate, Megan may offer hands on healing to encourage the proper flow of energy in the body.

Hike the Variety of Terrain
There are over 60 miles of trails with 20 looped walks for all abilities. The trails take you on quiet rural roads, through ancient livestock paths and rugged costal cliffs. Sheep’s Head lies in the Gulf Stream and has some of the best weather in Ireland the with temperature in May ranging from 52-65 degrees…and 18 hours of daylight!

Fuel with Local Food
Chef Marjorie Scheib will lovingly prepare two meals per day at the house. A range of breakfast foods will be available each morning including fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, selection of nuts, free range eggs, local meats, cheeses and breads. Additionally, depending on our schedule, either lunch or dinner will be provided. Included in our meals is a private 4 course dinner at a gourmet restaurant on Sheep’s Head. One meal a day will be open to your interpretation and may include one of the local restaurants or cafes as part of our guided outings; you will need to pay for this yourself.
